About Jo-Ann

Midwifery is a new experience for me and I am finding it very interesting and the paperwork challenging! My two daughters were born in an Ontario hospital, before midwifery legislation and funding.

I was born in Manitoba, grew up on an Ontario farm, and began my administrative career there. I worked for Xerox and  transferred to Halifax, Nova Scotia. After that I  worked for 25 years at Dalhousie University in the School of Education and as the Copyright and Administrative Officer for the University Libraries. Since coming to Victoria I volunteered for three years in the office of the Horticulture Centre of the Pacific.

I made the move from Halifax to Victoria four years ago and the weather is definitely contributing to my enjoyment of the city. I have a two daughters, Michele, an electrician in Halifax, and Christine, an Orthopedic/Trauma OR nurse here in the city.

My interests outside work include quilting, reading, walking and taking care of my rescued Chihuahua, Calvin, and my cat Jewels. I also watch a lot of golf on tv but haven’t played for several years.

I am pleased to be working with Jane, who is such an experienced midwife, meeting and helping clients, expediting the process, and being part of the Birth Partnership Victoria team.
